SA WA DEE KA!~!~!~!~!~

Hehehe~ I'm taking up Thai language. Last night was my 1st lesson. My early exposure to the language was through a song way back to 199x. I can't recall the title of the song or the group but it was of 2 girls singing sa wa dee ka~ tu mui dee ka~ [da cuo de cuo, bu yao lai~ wu ru wo de mei~ wo bu shi ni de style wei he tian tian chan zhe wo~] -> This part is Mandarin =) One of my previously made unknown resolutions is to take up 3 new foreign languages this year! 3, quite ambitious ehh? *wink* I've registered for Thai & Japanese, still undecided on the 3rd language. Maybe I'll take it easy and polish up my Mandarin instead! Also foreign language what~ Seriously, I'm thinking of French. Or Spanish. Oh wait... there is Italiano!~ Ohya, I should learn Korean language! Next time, I can lansi-ly walk into a Korean restaurant and order Bibimbap and Bulgogi! While waiting for my food, I can kesi-kesi hum sorry sorry sorry sorry~  niku niku niku machio~ niku niku niku pachio~ pachio pachio pachio baybeh~ Maybe the restaurateur would be so impressed and let me eat for free! *slap forehead*

Coming back to my Thai class, I was actually struggling to catch up because the teacher spoke so fast and with such a strong Thai accent! I got to take notes and pay attention to his explanation both at the same time! To make it worse, the uncle who sat in front kept wanting to look at my notes and compare with his! =.="... Anyway, here are what I've learn last night:

It means hello~ Use when communicating with female friends.

It means hello too~ Use when communicating with male friends.

Thai language is slightly different from English in terms of spelling and pronunciation.

 

For example: Kon (You) is being pronounced as "khun". By the way, I actually kiasu and requested the teacher to teach us some "touristy" words so that next time, I can go Bangkok and shop without afraid of being cheated.

However, if I still fail to master the language later on, I can always c*rse "HE MEH MENG!!!" - Rough words which I learn from a Thai friend (=

Well, a lot has been going on of late...

But, the major part would be a transition from my current job to doing something which I have zero-knowledge of... Yea, I’m nervous yet excitedness keeps me alive! The most important thing is I’m willing to learn and with the kind of confidence level which I have in me for now, I’m quite sure that I can do the right things, right. Literally.

I would definitely miss this place once in a while but guess in life, you just got to make choices and move on, for good or bad. It’s part of the learning process which I’m willing to endure for greatness ahead. I always believe that if you don’t move out from your shell a.k.a comfort zone, you’ll never find the treasure that God has restored for you. Having said that, I’ve never regretted making that decision, regardless of what other people say, not now. Not later.

In life, we got to make choices...

In fact, I can’t wait to see how 2011 will come to me! I’m just so spice-up with this energy and high metabolism to start accepting the challenges right away! And I’m willing to make sacrifices to go to that length, even that means I got to let go some of the important things around me...uhh... like my daily nap hour *cursing blissfully* ^o^

For this year, I’m going to devote 101% of my attention to work (which I hope I would fall in love with as I learn how it goes). Like I said in earlier post, I have this feeling that I’ve not been working enough (though as a matter of fact, I do work like a mad cow at times).

I have a feeling... 2011 is not just any ordinary year, it WILL absolutely, definitely, surely be an amazing year for me, for JOY!

HAN CHIANG COLLEGE INTERMEDIATE CHINESE PROGRAMME

Remember the Elementary Chinese Programme that I blogged here, here, here and here?
Following the overwhelming response and tremendous success of the previous programme, Han Chiang College is now offering INTERMEDIATE CHINESE PROGRAMME for the non-Chinese speakers and the likes. In the programme, students will be exposed to the beautiful language in the area of speaking, writing, listening & grammar. Rest assured that upon completion of the course, students will be able to read simple text in Chinese and interpret the meaning. Apart from that, students will be taught a wide range of vocabularies that will be very useful whether at work or when travelling to Chinese-populated countries. Emphasis will be given on the pronunciation of the word and the meaning of it.


WHY SHOULD YOU LEARN CHINESE WITH US?



1. Guidance from experienced lecturer.


2. Comprehensive learning materials will be provided. (notes, exercises, handouts, websites)


3. Continuous assessment: Tests will be given bi-weekly to check the progress of the student in mastering the language.


4. Creative teaching methodology that encourages active participation in the class therefore, make learning Chinese fun & enjoyable!


5. A certificate of attendance will be awarded upon completion of the course and with that, it will definitely enhance your employability opportunity or promotion at work!

Classes will be held on every Saturday from 3pm to 6pm. The entire duration of the course is 2 months (8 classes). Now, with all these perks of joining the class, you must be wondering how exorbitantly the charge would be. Just for to know, it’s only RM 250 for the entire course! (This is equivalent to RM 125 per month, RM 31.25 per class, RM 10.42 per hour! Tell me, where on Earth can you master a language with that price?
