RAAF MUSEUM

Out of boredom yesterday, we made a quick trip to the Royal Australian Air Force or the RAAF Museum which is situated about 2km from our place. Entry to the compound was strict and there were stringent rules to abide to; for examples no pictures were allowed outside the museum, etc. At the reception area, we were greeted by a very friendly man who gave us a brief explanation of the museum establishment and so on. After that, we were left to explore the place on our own.

Bristol Boxkite Plane Model; this is how real plane looks like back in 1914

Pilot Helmet; it looks like steel to me but it's actually leather

I almost cried by listening to the audio playback in the museum T_____________T

Moving on to the next section where real planes are...

We neither had boots on nor a haircut =___________=

Some of the men at work...

Victor says when the clock struck 12am, the people will come alive and do maintenance work on the plane :0

Yes, you read me! My new found "ambition", I want to fly a plane; a jet plane! Come on board people! *cheeky smile*

That would be me pointing at the maps 5 years from now!

Yay!~ That's my plane! ^^

Some random artifacts -the gears, rifles, missiles, etc

Yo baby~ Welcome to the Club ;)

Old school washing machine *grin*
(Actual fact I don't know what is that *sigh*)

Done with RAAF. More pictures in Facebook. Next post will be on our visit to Werribee Park! Stay tuned! =)

Philip Island - Penguin Parade, The Nobbies Centre, Koala Conservation Centre & Churchill Island Heritage Farm

We traveled like hundreds of km(s), came across Dandenong city/street/mount quite few times, not to mention the frustration of getting lost here and there but the journey proved to be worthwhile. For at last, we found it: Welcome to Philip Island Nature Parks; a certainly not-to-miss and must go place! We bought a 3-park-pass (about 36 bucks per person) which entitled us entrance to the Koala Conservation Centre, Churchill Island Heritage Farm & Penguin Parade!

Believe me, we saw so many cows and I was so ecstatic all the way! The usual me would have fallen asleep in a long journey but for once that's not the case! There were like cows in solid black, all white, all brown, brown with white spots (vice versa) and not to mention black with white spots too! (like the one we usually see in milk powder packaging ^^)

The perfect scenery

Welcome to the Koala Conservation Centre!

Where Victor found his long lost twin ^^

Seriously, my all time favorite 'pet' used to be penguins! But, I shall now declare that koalas are the cutest thing on Earth and they just take over penguin's place in my heart ^^ They are very, very, very adorable in their own ways: the way they hold on to branches and fall asleep, etc.

Do you know that koalas actually sleep 20 hours per day and the rest of the time they eat, shit and mate! Well, Victor says koalas are fucking lucky and he wished to be one because all they do is sleep, eat and fuck =_______=

Another one hanging on the tree.
I wonder why they can cling so steadily at the branches and sleep just like that!

Next up, what's Australia without this...

Baby kangaroo hiding behind the bushes ^^

Still hiding. Maybe he thought we were playing hide-and-seek =_____=

I have a question. Why does kangaroo have only one pouch? I seriously want to know the answer. I would love to see kangaroo with few pouches...you know, like pockets? One for the baby to hop in, one for the milk bottle, one for diapers, etc  =)

Enough of koalas and kangaroos. We drove for like another half an hour to our next stop, The Churchill Island Hermitage Farm. Supposedly, it should take us like a 10-minute drive but blame it on my poor sense of direction (almost non-existent) I read the map upside down, insisted that Victor followed my directions and took the wrong route =_____= And oh well, we missed the cow milking session :(

What is this? Yak?

Victor with his partner-in-crime.

Coolest horse ever: The Jay Chou look-a-like horse ^^

After that, we rushed to our next destination, The Nobbies Centre for lunch and seal-viewing. It was 4pm by the way and we were famished.

We didn't see any seal though =(

Joy Lim conquered The Great Wall of China Philip Island =)

Oh, it's that a....

....baby penguin!

Finally at 5pm, we drove to the Penguin Parade Centre for the much awaited penguin parade!

No pictures were taken cause camera was not allowed as it will scared away the baby penguins. We waited for half an hour at approximately less than 10 degrees Celsius in the rain to be greeted with the sight of many many many baby penguins coming back to the shore! It was truly awesome to be able to get so close with these little cuties ^^ I would really love to see them again!

Interesting facts on how penguins mate.

Demonstration of the "doggie style" / Leap Frog ('o')

Well, basically that's the end of it! (*.*) For more pictures of koalas, kangaroos, cows and baby penguins, please go to MY FACEBOOK. Oh wait, no pictures of baby penguins because we were not allowed to use the camera at the Penguin Parade. It's ok though, you can always view my Melbourne Aquarium album, there are papa & mama penguin pictures over there or read up Victor's post on our trip ^^
